Packaging 2.0

We know first-hand that a brand can suffer when its practices are questioned. Our hop, over time, is to demonstrate that social and environemental innovations can help add an imnportant dimension to our brand -- Phil knight, NikeWhat is Corporate Social Responsibility?

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) marries global citizenship, environmental stewardship and sustainable development.

Shareholders and Stakeholders

CSR generally refers to an ongoing commitment by business to behave ethically and to contribute to economic development while demonstrating respect for people, communities, society at large and the environment.
CSR seeks to serve shareholders by identifying and serving stakeholders, all those touched by the work of a company. This apparent shift in values, internalizing ìexternalitiesî, may at first seem counterproductive to shareholder interests. This is a misconception that can punish companies that fail to recognize fundamental shifts in the marketplace driven by an explosion in Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) activity and in the ease with which information can be widely disseminated.

Role of Packaging in CSR

Today's growing need for environmentally friendly packaging designs and materials is driven by an increasing number of global packaging standards, mandates and take back fees. Increasingly, corporations are responding to meeting or exceeding these requirements through internal environmental stewardship and "design for environment" policies.
